Adult String Ensemble

Adult String EnsembleThis ensemble, which won the New School's 2008 Ensemble Prize (see Scholarships & Prizes), is open to violin, viola, cello, double bass and guitar students of Grade II to Grade V standard. Ensemble members explore a wide range of music together in an informal and non-competitive atmosphere, while strengthening their ensemble skills and developing their general musical and string skills. A gentle approach, encouraging guidance and ‘safety in numbers’ enable them to achieve heights beyond their expectations!

Students concurrently enrolled for private or group lessons at the New School receive a 50% discount off the fee for this ensemble.

Full Year: 2 October 2012 – 18 June 2013

Late Enrolment

Beata Kmak, Director

Beata KmakBeata comes from a musical family in Krakow, Poland and started playing the violin and piano as a child. She received her Diploma as Professional Musician-Instrumentalist (violin, piano) and a postgraduate certificate in Pedagogy from the renowned Jagiellonian University in Kracow. Beata has performed, recorded, taught and toured extensively in Europe with 'Male Slowianki', a Polish folk music and dance group, and has a particular interest in Klezmer music. As a teacher in Krakow she created an innovative 'Best Musician of the Year' competition, which included a variety of rewards and medals for musicianship and choreography. She has been teaching at the New School since she came to Ireland in 2006.
