In addition to its regular teaching, the New School has developed, over the past decade, a range of external programmes designed to bring music to the entire community. These include:

The Waltons World Masters series, which brings to the National Concert Hall some of the world's most extraordinary musicians and performing groups for concerts, masterclasses, workshops and performances for schools.

An Outreach Programme consisting of

• Music and cultural workshops for primary schools, post-primary schools and special needs groups.
• An In-School Music Programme of courses and lessons run on-site at Dublin-area primary schools and post-primary schools.
• In-house workshops in music technology for post-primary music classes and transition year classes.

A Music at Work programme of adult music courses run on-site at Dublin-area businesses.

The annual Waltons Music for Schools Competition, a national competition and celebration of music in Irish schools - in association with Waltons Music,  RTÉ lyric fm and the National Concert Hall.
