We are delighted to announce the winner of our second nationwide Waltons World Masters / RTÉ lyric fm Gospel & Soul Competition – Tig Linn!

The five Competition finalists were:

A Glór Gospel
B & The Honeyboys
Gardiner Street Gospel Choir
Maynooth Gospel Choir
Tig Linn

Their entries were sent on to Mavis Staples for her final decision. We understand that it was a difficult one, but while Mavis was amazed at the quality of the gospel-related acts who participated in the Competition, Tig Linn's blend of the African roots of gospel with Irish sounds, as well as their performances at events related to social protest, spoke to her the most.

Tig Linn will perform as support act for Mavis Staples and her group at the National Concert Hall on Saturday, 3 November.

We would like to thank all of the wonderful groups that participated in the Competition - and especially our five outstanding finalists - for their excellent submissions and great music. Gospel and soul are alive and well in Ireland.
