The Kurzweil Piano Prize
In June 2010, a Kurzweil MarkPro ONEi Digital Piano, valued at approximately €1000, will be awarded to the most promising piano student at Waltons New School of Music. The prize will be awarded for musical talent, ability and potential, as well as for progress over the 2009-2010 school year, as determined by the New School faculty. Candidates, selected from teacher nominations in May, will be asked to perform in the Martin A. Walton Memorial Scholarship competition in June. The prize is for a Kurzweil Digital Piano only and is not transferable
Eligibility
Students of piano who will have been enrolled at the New School for at least 18 consecutive weeks by 26 June 2010. Prize winners may not enter the same competition twice. Students of all ages are encouraged to compete.
The Gibson Epiphone Guitar Prize
In June 2009, a Gibson Epiphone Guitar will be awarded to the most promising guitar student at Waltons New School of Music. The winner may choose from a selection of acoustic and electric guitars valued at approximately €500. The prize will be awarded for musical talent, ability and potential, as well as for progress over the 2008-2009 school year, as determined by the New School faculty. Candidates, selected from teacher nominations in May, will be asked to perform in the Martin A. Walton Memorial Scholarship competition in June. The prize is for a Gibson Epiphone Guitar only and is not transferable.
Eligibility
Students of all guitar styles, as well as electric bass, who will have been enrolled at the New School for at least 18 consecutive weeks by 27 June 2009. Prize winners may not enter the same competition twice. Students of all ages are encouraged to compete.
