The Leaving Cert. Music Two-Year Course aims to accommodate, in particular, fifth and sixth year students unable to study music as a Leaving Cert. subject at their own school, as well as external and mature students. It covers all Core Listening and Composing activities. The course is offered at Higher level only and does not include preparation for the Performing activity; students are responsible for their own work in this area, either at the New School or with a private teacher. (Students enrolled in the Two-Year Course are entitled to a 10% reduction in fees for 30-minute private lessons taken at the New School during the 2013-2014 and/or 2014-2015 school years.) Students taking a Higher Elective in Composing or Listening are responsible for their own preparation of this elective, with some guidance from the course teacher. For extra preparation, students may also attend, at no cost, the 2014 or 2015 Easter Revision Course as well as the 2014 or 2015 Pre-Exam Revision Workshop.
