'I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. It seems to infuse strength into my limbs, and ideas into my brain. Life seems to go on without effort, when I am filled with music.'
– George Eliot
Our annual Martin A. Walton Memorial Scholarship Competition, taking place each June, is open to all students who have been enrolled at the New School for at least 18 consecutive weeks by the end of the Third Term. The competition awards full-year tuition scholarships in three categories, as well as an Ensemble Prize, Songwriting/Composition Prize, Piano Prize and Guitar Prize. Candidates are selected from teacher nominations in May. Winners are expected to perform at the New School’s end-of-year concert. All participants will receive copies of their assessment forms after the competition.
