Learning to play a musical instrument is both a challenging and rewarding experience that can also be a lot of fun, and violins are ideal first instruments for young players. They are easy to carry, simple to store and affordable. This course, a special summer ‘taster’ version of our popular Introducing Violin for Children course, provides young students aged 6-8 with a brief, fun and friendly introduction to this great instrument and will help parents to decide whether or not there is interest and commitment enough to continue with private violin lessons starting in September or the longer Introducing Violin for Children course starting in October.
The course fee includes a 1/4- or 1/2-size Valencia violin outfit (including bow, rosin and hard case). Your child will have everything needed to get started, and the violin will be his/hers to keep when the course is finished!

Elena Elioutina, Teacher
Elena Elioutina received her diploma in orchestral playing and violin teaching, with distinction, from Voronezh State College of Music in Russia, as well as a BA in Music Performance, specialising in orchestral string instruments, from Voronezh State Institute of the Arts. She has continued with post-graduate studies at the RIAM with Professor Eyal Kless. In Russia Elena taught violin to students from beginner to diploma level, as well as youth violin ensembles. With extensive experience in children’s music education, she currently teaches violin to children from four years up at several Dublin-area schools, in addition to her work at the New School.

Enrolment for this course requires a completed enrolment form and full payment of tuition fees. (Go to Enrolment & Booking Form Downloads for a 2012 Summer Enrolment Form.) Places are available on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the date of enrolment. Early enrolment is recommended, as places are limited to six.
