The New School offers tuition assistance for lesson fees based on financial need. In order to be considered for tuition assistance, please complete and return the application form and attach copies of the requested income verification documents. Applications should be accompanied by enrolment form(s) and can be made in person, by post, fax or email.
Although tuition assistance is limited, every effort will be made to assist those students who, because of financial circumstances, would otherwise be unable to study at the New School. The range of tuition assistance awards will be between 10% and 35% of the total anticipated tuition fees for those who qualify. Please take this into consideration when deciding what lessons/courses to pursue.
The following information is provided to assist students, parents, and faculty members in understanding the tuition assistance policies of Waltons New School of Music:
- Applications for tuition assistance will be considered on a rolling basis as funds allow.
- Recipients of tuition assistance must reapply each academic year.
- Any assistance received is applied as a tuition discount and is not given to the student in the form of cash.
- If there is a reduction in the lesson length or number of lessons, the award will be reduced accordingly. Any increase in lesson length or number of lessons will not necessarily result in a proportionate increase in tuition assistance.
- A student who withdraws prior to the completion of a term or year will not receive credit on his/her tuition assistance for subsequent enrolment.
- Tuition assistance recipients may use payment plans, but failure to make payments in a timely manner will result in withdrawal of tuition assistance.
- Tuition assistance may be withdrawn at any time if, in the opinion of the teacher and school administration, the recipient fails to meet minimum standards expected by the teacher and the school.
- The receipt of assistance does not guarantee assistance in the future.
- All school decisions regarding tuition assistance are final, and no discussion will be entered into.
- All tuition assistance applications and awards will be kept strictly confidential.
