The Blind Boys of Alabama - Monday, 31 January 2010

'The fusion of the Blind Boys' Deep South gospel with New Orleans funk, R&B and jazz creates a superweapon of roots music uplift....'
– Rolling Stone

Waltons New School of Music's World Masters series welcomes the legendary Blind Boys of Alabama to Dublin and the National Concert Hall on Monday, 31 January!

Ireland has its own great tradition of gospel music, and one very special aspect of this concert is that the support act will be chosen from Irish gospel choirs and ensembles by a nationwide gospel competition, organised by Waltons World Masters and RTÉ lyric fm! The winning choir/ensemble will perform a set of up to 40 minutes’ duration before The Blind Boys of Alabama take to the stage.

Juan Martín Flamenco Dance Ensemble - Saturday, 2 April 2011

'Stunning virtuosity and spectacular live shows.’
– The Irish Times

‘Juan Martín reminded us of the power and beauty of flamenco pure and simple. No meretricious stage tricks, just one long enthralling sequence of instrumental solos, songs and dances by the brilliant troupe.’
– The Independent

We are delighted to welcome back Juan Martín, ‘a giant of the flamenco guitar tradition’ (The Times), who returns to the National Concert Hall after a sold-out performance with the Waltons World Masters series in 2003 for another exhilarating evening of flamenco, supported by the cream of Spain’s flamenco musicians, singers and dancers, direct from Andalucía.
