Friday Concerts

The New School’s Friday Concerts are a great opportunity for students of all instruments and genres to play in public, in a supportive setting, before friends, families and other students. These brief concerts, which take twice each term on Friday evenings at 6.30 – 7.30 pm in the school, allow individual students and ensembles to perform in public, show off their skills and learn how to cope with nerves. They are also highly recommended for students preparing for exams or auditions. But most of all, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of accomplishment after you have performed a piece or song that you’ve been working on for quite a while!

Your teacher will recommend the best concert date(s) for you. Students of melody instruments or voice who require a school accompanist at a Casual Concert are asked to contribute €10 to help cover this cost.

Virtual Concerts

In addition to our Friday Concerts, we also have Virtual End-of-Term Concerts after each of our terms for students who would find it difficult to perform before a live audience, who prefer to record themselves playing or singing a few times and then choose the best ‘take’, or who want to have a video record of the pieces or songs they have learned. For virtual concerts, students submit videos of their performances, which are then added to concert playlists on our YouTube Channel. Video submission deadlines are two weeks before the end of each term.

End-of-Year Concerts

Taking place in the National Concert Hall’s John Field Room for over two decades, the New School’s annual End-of-Year Concerts in June showcase a wide range of the school’s instrumentalists, singers and ensembles, as well as winners of our annual Scholarship Competition. Performers are selected by their teachers and the school administration.
