Internships

Music for Me Programme

Music for Me is the New School’s pre-instrumental music programme for children aged 3-4, 4-5 and 5-6. These internships are open to students currently enrolled as undergraduates in music or music education programmes in Ireland. If chosen for this opportunity, interns will work alongside and under the supervision of the Music for Me teacher on an ongoing basis, developing their teaching skills and classroom management techniques. They may also have the opportunity to work with teachers and/or facilitators in the New School’s Outreach Programme. Although the internships are unpaid, they are a valuable opportunity to gain experience in music education for children.

Prospective interns should be available to assist with Music for Me and early childhood music classes on several Saturdays mornings from October 2018 to April 2019, with the possibility of extending this to our Move Your Feet & Sing to the Beat classes from April to June 2019. Those accepted for internships will be Garda vetted by the New School, if they have not already been vetted through their degree programme.

If you are interested in these internships, please email the following three items to info@newschool.ie:

  1. Your CV.
  2. A cover letter describing your interest in early childhood music education.
  3. The names, email addresses and phone numbers (preferably mobiles) of at least two referees.
