Sarah Cunningham

Sarah studied piano from a young age, and she went on to complete both a BMus degree and an MA (in Computer Music) from NUI Maynooth. She was awarded First-Class Honours for her MA thesis Music as Perceptual Experience: On Perception, Influences and Challenges. While at college she sang with the NUIM Choral Society and the Park Singers, under Seán Creamer, and she was a founder member of the Maynooth Gospel Choir; she currently sings with the award-winning Cuore Chamber Choir. Sarah has performed at the National Concert Hall, University Concert Hall in Limerick, the Everyman Palace Theatre in Cork and for President Mary McAleese at Áras an Uachtaráin. She began teaching while she was an undergraduate in NUI Maynooth, and she has taught piano and theory/musicianship to many children and adults – both privately and in primary, secondary and music schools – for a number of years. In addition to her teaching work, Sarah was also an administrator at the New School as well as Coordinator of our extensive Outreach Programme for six years, and she is currently the Music Capital Scheme Administrator with Music Network.
